Far Infrared Saunas
Burn up to 300 calories in a 30 minute sauna session
How does infrared heat therapy control weight?
As the body works to cool itself, there is a substantial
increase in heart rate, cardiac output and metabolic rate. Blood flow
during whole-body hyperthermia is reported to rise from a normal 5 to 7
quarts per minute to as much as 13 quarts per minute.
This benefit was recognized in the prestigious Journal of the
American Medical Association as long ago as August 1981: “Many of us
who run do so to place a demand on our cardiovascular system, not to
build big leg muscles. Regular use of a Sauna imparts a similar
stress on the cardiovascular system, and its regular use may be as
effective, a means of cardiovascular conditioning and burning of
calories, as regular exercise.”
For most healthy people, as well as for most patients with
stable coronary heart disease, sauna bathing is well tolerated, safe,
and has therapeutic value, according to a study published in The
American Journal of Medicine. A comprehensive review of the world’s
biomedical literature (1966 to the present) was carried out by
investigators from the Department of Internal Medicine and University
of Oulu, Finland, and the Division of Cardiology, Washington Hospital
Center, Washington D.C. The authors examined the benefits and risks of
sauna bathing for healthy adults and children, as well as for patients
with coronary heart disease, hypertension, and congestive heart failure.
A moderately conditioned person can sweat off 250 grams of
sweat. While the weight of the water lost can be regained by
rehydration with water, the calories will not be.
The heart receives a workout similar to a 6-mile run in a 20-30 minute
FIR sauna session and the body perspires the same amount as a 6-mile
run. Infrared saunas are perfect for those that do not have time for
regular exercise or suffer from injuries that inhibit rigorous activity.

Title of Study
Repeated Thermal Therapy Improves Impaired Vascular
Endothelial Function in Patients With Coronary Risk Factors
Authors:
Dr. Imamura, et.al, Kagoshima Japan
Publication and Date:
Journal of the American College of Cardiology, 2001
Purpose of Study: To determine whether Infrared Sauna therapy
improves blood vessel function (endothelial) in patients risk factors
such as high cholesterol, high blood pressure, diabetes and smoking.
This dysfunction represents an early stage of atherosclerosis
(hardening of the arteries).
How did they do it? Studied 25 men with at least 1 risk
factor. Patients were treated in an Infrared Sauna for 15 minutes once
a day for 2 weeks.
Results: Infrared Sauna Treatment
• Significantly lowered blood pressure
• Significant weight loss
• Significantly lowered blood sugar
• Significantly increased blood flow
• Lowered cholesterol
• Lowered triglycerides
Conclusion:
• Repeated Infrared Sauna treatment improves impaired blood vessel
functions in patients with high blood pressure, diabetes, smoking and
high cholesterol. This suggests a preventive role for sauna use for
atherosclerosis.
What Other Benefits Can I Expect?
The FIR wavelength lowers lactic acid, stimulates endorphins,
kills certain bacteria and parasites, penetrates tissues, detoxifies
cells by vibrating ionic bonds, stops swelling, improves lymphatic flow
and blood circulation, attracts calcium to cell membranes where it is
needed for healing, decreases the size of water clusters which gives
them greater mobility and penetration for going in and out of body
tissue. When these hyperactive or energized water clusters move in and
out they mobilize stored toxins that can then be excreted.
The benefits of hyperthermia are many, however, the FIR heater
causes profuse sweating at a much lower temperature than rocks heated
by electric coils which heat the air to a searing temperature capable
of damaging respiratory and vision and not recommended for those with
cardiac or diabetic conditions. So very ill people can use FIR who
cannot safely use conventional sauna.
The wood doesn’t get hot, only the body of the person getting
the rays, so harmful terpenes aren’t released. You can use an acrylic
or even cotton sauna box with FIR heater, or poplar wood instead of
cedar. There is much lower ELF radiation and much less energy use. It
is much safer in terms of fire hazard and burn hazard (little or none).
It does not require venting. The heat is gone as soon as you turn it
off.
Conversely, you can sauna in a cold room because it heats your
body, not the air. FIR induces a core temp of 100.4 quickly with a low
setting. This is enough to mobilize toxins and get them out in sweat.
You can go higher of course for hyperthermia treatment.
What is far-infrared radiant heat?
Far-infrared radiant (FIR) heat is a form of naturally
occurring energy that heats objects by direct light conversion (DLC).
DLC warms only the object and does not raise the temperature of the
surrounding free air.
All life requires FIR heat from the sun. FIR heat is not
ultraviolet radiation but a narrow band of energy within the 5.6 to 15
micron level. This type of energy travels 2-3" deep into the body to
increase circulation and nourish damaged tissue.
The sun is the primary source of radiant energy, but not all
of this energy is beneficial. Although life needs energy from the sun,
too much sunlight damages the skin. FIR heat provides all the healthy
benefits of natural sunlight without any of the dangerous effects of
solar radiation.
For years, the healthcare industry recommended infrared heat
lamps as a source of FIR heat but the lamps were cumbersome, extremely
hot and difficult to maintain at a constant temperature. The recent
development of ceramic infrared heaters in the U.S. created a new and
convenient source of FIR heat therapy. Today, many healthcare
professionals use ceramic infrared heaters to treat a variety of
diseases throughout the world.
What are ceramic far-infrared heaters?
Most FIR sauna heater elements are steel-coated. Steel coating
is an older technology that directs the heat source but requires more
time to warm up, operates at higher temperatures, and uses more energy
to reach the level necessary for deep tissue penetration. Now,
ceramic-coated heater elements result in lower temperatures and more
efficient energy use.
Ceramic-coated FIR heaters produce the same useful energy as
the sun at a very safe (.50) Gauss reading but without the harmful
ultraviolet rays or electromagnetic field radiation of natural
sunlight. Hospitals even use similar FIR heaters to warm newborn
infants and treat hypothermia patients.
How does far-infrared heat therapy improve the immune system?
Most illnesses are accompanied by a fever. During a fever, the
body heats up to eliminate viruses and attack foreign agents. Often
misunderstood, this rise in temperature is a natural stage of the
immune system’s healing process and is one of the best ways to rid the
body of chemicals and unwelcome visitors. The immune system weakens the
hold of viruses and bacterial growth. FIR heat therapy induces an
“artificial fever” by heating up the body but without the pains of an
illness. Subsequently, the body wards off invading organisms much more
easily because the immune system is activated consistently by the
“artificial fever”. Recent studies also show that colds and flu-like
illnesses are reduced dramatically if treated in the early stages with
FIR heat therapy.
How does infrared heat therapy eliminate toxins?
Toxins such as sodium, alcohol, nicotine, cholesterol and
carcinogenic heavy metals (cadmium, lead, zinc, nickel) and mercury
accumulate in the body during modern daily life. The body eliminates
most toxins naturally by sweating but the process is sometimes too
slow. Infrared heat therapy stimulates the sweat glands that cleanse
and detoxify the skin. The FIR heat technology simply speeds up the
body’s natural process!
How does far-infrared heat therapy benefit my skin?
Far-infrared heat improves circulation, expels dirt &
chemicals and removes dead cells on the surface of the skin. All of
these benefits lead to a more soft and firm complexion.
Why is infrared heat better than traditional steam heat?
Far-infrared heaters warm the body in the same manner as
natural sunlight. FIR heat therapy uses the wavelength of the visible
and non-visible light spectrum of sunlight that heats the body normally.
Traditional steam saunas raise the temperature of the air to a
very high level within the chamber to warm the body. Some people have
difficulty breathing in this extremely warm air. FIR saunas work
differently. Instead of heating the air within the enclosure, FIR
saunas heat the body directly. The result is a lower power bill and
deeper tissue penetration. In the FIR sauna, the body perspires and
receives all of the healthy benefits but avoids the harmful and
extremely hot air of a traditional steam sauna. FIR saunas are safe for
all ages.
Colored Ooze is Produced When Drugs Exit the Body
By Bonnie O’Sullivan, Editor of The Road To Health Newsletter
In my opinion physicians do not know how to detoxify their
patients from the drugs they prescribe. A successful detox method that
stops money from going to the drug companies is sorely needed. This is
why I am dismayed by the recent dispute being followed in the San
Francisco Chronicle Newspaper between Narconon, which is Scientology
inspired, and physicians who have little or no success in detoxifying
drug addicted people.
I am not a Scientologist, however, if they know something
about detoxifying the body successfully, easily and safely, I want to
know about it! Therefore, in one way I am grateful that The San
Francisco Chronicle “reported” what Narconon teaches, as without their
report I may never have learned that “colored ooze is produced when
drugs exit the body.”
The following article may hold the key to helping my daughter,
Sandy, detoxify her body from the antibiotics she has taken and the
die-off of Borrelia burgdorferi (Bb) and its large suite of
biotoxins, which are probably the cause of the yellow pus oozing from
her ears and skin. (Sandy has taken antibiotics by IV for several
months as a treatment for a bone marrow disease.)
What Narconon Tells Students
San Francisco Chronicle
June 9, 2004,
by Nanette Asimov, Chronical Staff Writer
Narconon’s school program sends students a strong anti-drug
message about alcohol, tobacco and marijuana in grades three to 12 and
about harder drugs in the upper grades.
The program’s instructors tell kids that all drugs are
poisons, that drugs are stored in fat for years and may cause cravings
for more drugs, and that alcohol is ‘made of dead rotted food.’ But
here are some other things they tell kids about addiction, which the
medical experts interviewed by The Chronicle rejected as not
scientifically based:
- Drugs — including ecstasy, LSD and marijuana — accumulate
indefinitely in body fat, where they cause recurring drug cravings for
months or years.
- Drugs in fat cause flashbacks even years after the user
quits.
- The vitamin niacin pulls drugs from fat, and saunas sweat
them from the body.
- Colored ooze is produced when drugs exit the body.
Tony Bylsma, director of Narconon’s education program and a
Scientologist, recently asked ninth-graders at Centennial High in
Compton (Los Angeles County) to imagine a boy who had smoked pot for
years. Fat stores up energy, Bylsma told the students. But what else is
his fat storing up?
THC! cried the class, naming marijuana’s active ingredient.
Right! Bylsma said. THC can stay in your fat for years. Now he
goes three months without smoking weed. He feels great. But is he
really off drugs? Not really. He’s still a walking baggy of marijuana —
enough to make him feel like getting stoned. At our Narconon rehab
centers, we devote a lot of time to cleaning this out of the body.
Narconon’s global network of drug treatment centers gives out
high doses of niacin and sends people into saunas for long intervals
over several hours in the belief that this will flush drugs from the
body.
If something is locked up in your fat, the niacin releases it
into your circulation, said Clark Carr, president of Narconon
International and a Scientologist. The sauna then sweats the drugs out.
Eliminating drug residue — “Purification’’ — is believed by
Scientologists to protect the mind and allow one to reach an
enlightened state of “Clear.”
Scientologists believe the mind is made up of
three-dimensional images of personal experiences called mental image
pictures. Certain pictures of pain and loss become scrambled by drug
residue in fat (substances ranging from aspirin to street drugs to
nuclear radiation). Scrambled pictures cannot be erased, a removal that
is essential for going “Clear.”
The idea that drugs scramble mental pictures, wreak havoc in
fat or can be sweated out in saunas is unique to Scientology — and
Narconon. Drug experts interviewed by The Chronicle said they knew of
no scientific evidence to validate such claims.
While drug residue can be found in body fat for days or weeks,
there is no evidence that they cause flashbacks or cravings, said Dr.
Peter Banys, director of substance abuse programs at the VA Medical
Center in San Francisco. Drs. David Smith of the Haight-Ashbury Free
Clinic, Neal Benowitz of UCSF and Timmen Cermak, medical director of
the Henry Ohlhoff treatment program in San Francisco agreed.
In all my reading and attendance at conferences on chemical
dependence, I have never heard any evidence for a mechanism for
flashbacks, said Cermak, who wrote Marijuana: What’s a Parent to
Believe? in 2003. He said a likely explanation for what some
people experience as a flashback is because of the confluence of many
associative clues — much like deja vu.
The experts said research shows that marijuana and many other
psychoactive drugs (including LSD, ecstasy, Valium and opiates) create
the sense of being high by mimicking neurotransmitters, the brain’s
chemicals. Traveling across nerves in the brain, neurotransmitters
inspire thoughts, memories, emotions, hunger and other activity.
Some drugs stimulate nerves much more than neurotransmitters
can. Some cause a release of extra neurotransmitters, and some block
the nerve’s ability to receive the chemicals altogether, the doctors
said. Thoughts, memories and emotions are affected, as is hunger, which
is why marijuana causes the munchies, the doctors agreed.
Cermak said the idea that this activity occurs in fat reflects
a general lack of knowledge about the physiology of getting high.
Carr steered medical questions to Narconon’s medical expert,
Dr. David Root, who practices occupational medicine in Sacramento and
runs a Hubbard detoxification program from his office. Root defended
the drugs-in-fat view of addiction.
These metabolic products do store in the fat and do cause
problems later on. One of the reasons I feel this way is that we are
literally reducing the body’s burden (through niacin and sauna). They
no longer feel bad or have flashbacks, said Root, who said he is not a
Scientologist but a Presbyterian elder.
He explained that during a sauna, drugs and other poisons come
out through the skin in the form of sebaceous, or fatty, sweat. This
material is frequently visible and drips or is rubbed off on towels. It
may be black, brown, blue, green, yellow and occasionally red. Most is
washed off in the shower and so is not seen.
In Hubbard’s Scientology text Clear Body, Clear Mind,
published in 1979, one case study is about a woman exposed to toxic
chemicals on the job. Her doctor was Root, who refers her to Hubbard
for Purification under his care.
Four days into the program, she reported ‘black junk’ coming
from her pores that resembled water she used at work, Root says on page
173. This outpouring of this black, oily material continued throughout
the program though in lesser and lesser amounts until she was done.
Benowitz, head of clinical pharmacology at UCSF, said what
Root described is not biologically possible. Sweat glands excrete
watery substances, not oil.
Asked in an interview if there are scientific studies to
support Purification, Root said, I’m not sure I can say that.
But Narconon officials provided a list of 61 journal articles
they said supported their view, including three by Root describing his
methods. Some were from such well-known publications as the Journal of
the American Medical Association (Human tissue burdens of halogenated
aromatic chemicals in Michigan, 1982). The most recent was from 1990 in
Clinical Ecology (Thermal chamber depuration: A perspective on man in
the sauna). The oldest was from 1713 on remedies that have the power of
setting the spirits and blood mass in motion and of provoking sweat.
Carr said his own experience supports the flashback claim. I
did acid when I was at Stanford in '67, '68, he said. I did the sauna
in '79. In the sauna, I got the munchies, and I got the giggles. This
was a little something that was left.
Benowitz of UCSF called the idea of sweating out drugs and
re-experiencing their effects very amusing.
The concentration of drugs in sweat varies very much from drug
to drug, he said. There’s very little THC in sweat. If a drug is water
soluble, you’ll find it in higher concentrations in sweat. But not
years later. That’s ridiculous. Very amusing.
Smith of the Haight-Ashbury Free Clinic said such claims were
not scientifically based.
Yet Narconon uses those ideas in drug presentations to
thousands of students and teachers.
If you have toxins in your body, you want to sweat it out,
said Reid Russell, a health teacher who has hosted Narconon about twice
a year for five years at Lincoln High.
At Bravo High in Los Angeles, a public school for students
interested in medicine, health teacher Jon Hyde said he and the future
doctors and nurses in his class have learned a lot from Narconon.
They have to put people in saunas for hours so they sweat.
It’s the only way to get the toxins out, Hyde said. There was this one
guy who was on several types of drugs. When he did the sauna, all this
stuff just came out. The floor was all black. It’s from the drugs.
In San Francisco schools, Narconon speaker Nathan Johnson has
done lectures in schools since 1991. He often performs a demonstration
in which he drops some tea leaves into corn oil, where they remain
suspended. He drops other tea leaves into water, where they float to
the surface.
Like tea leaves, most drugs are fat-soluble, said Johnson, a
Scientologist. That was one of the things Hubbard’s research showed.
THC stays indefinitely in the fat.
Johnson’s demonstration does show that tea leaves react
differently to oil than to water. But it does not show how long tea,
marijuana or THC stays in body fat.
Teachers may love Narconon, but in Los Angeles, some school
district officials do not.
Think about it: A kid will say, ‘Wow, I’ll go to a sauna and
exercise, and no one will know if I’ve been using or not,’ said Lee
Saltz, a drug counselor in the district.
Saltz said teachers invite Narconon into classrooms despite a
recommendation by the district that the program not be used.
One Los Angeles teacher who was skeptical about the
information found that banning Narconon was easier said than done.
Although it was a great presentation, I decided not to have
(Bylsma) back, said Peter Senick of Manual Arts High. I didn’t know if
it was scientifically based.
But Narconon lobbied, sending student testimonials — including
one from a kid who said he decided against taking drugs after hearing
the presentation in Senick’s class.
If this is the effect they had on one kid, Senick told
himself, then who am I to be so uppity that one little fact is not
right?
He invited Bylsma back.
Detoxify or Die (How a Far Infrared Sauna May Save
Your Life)
This is Bonnie again: In early June I received my copy of
Christine Thorne’s April 2004 newsletter, Infectious Diseases, Toxins
and Natural Remedies from England (to order her NL email Christine at
chris@IDTNR.f9.co.uk).
To Chris: Thank you. You answered my prayers. Because of the
direction you pointed me in, I have learned the best way to Detox the
body (I have prayed for this answer for many years).
Chris’ April issue contains a wealth of information about a
book, Detoxify or Die, 2002, by Sherry A. Rogers, M.D. I
ordered it from the website, www.hightechhealth.com.
About the Author:
Sherry A. Rogers, M.D. is well known as author, educator, and
an international specialist in Environmental Medicine. She is a
diplomat of the American Board of Environmental Medicine, a Fellow of
the American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology, and a Fellow of
the American College of Nutrition. With this broad background and more
than 30 years in practice, Sherry Rogers brings together all of her
expertise combined with new research in her book, Detoxify or Die.
For 191 pages Dr. Rogers tells us how toxic we are, why, and
the supplements we need to detoxify ourselves. Plastics (their toxins
are in 100% of us), cadmium (given to laboratory rats to give them
prostate cancer), Tylenol (which destroys our liver) and pesticides
(low levels are the worst as there are no symptoms until we develop a
disease) are at the top of the list for toxins we all have in our
systems simply because we are alive in our toxic world.
The top three among dozens of supplements Dr. Rogers
recommends are: Vitamin C powder, ¼ to 1 heaping teaspoon,
R-Lipoic Acid, 300-600 mgs, and Glutathione (reverses the effects of
cadmium and having a good supply in our system is the determining
factor of whether taking drugs like Tylenol can lead to a liver
transplant), 400-800 mg, which are the ingredients of her Detox
Cocktail (to be taken often daily, especially after a sauna). Dr.
Rogers is an advocate of coffee enemas, or “detox coffee enemas,” which
she states supercharges your detoxification system. While many of the
minerals she recommends are in capsule or tablet form, I was impressed
that she lists Water Oz minerals (my favorite) under Mineral Waters on
page 335. Her Resources are extensive and she lists 700 references!
Pages 191 to 281 contain the most important information: how
to safely depurate (get rid of) a lifetime’s accumulation of poisons
from your body. To do this Dr. Rogers recommends the Thermal Life Far
Infrared Sauna by High Tech Health (800) 794-5355.
On page 201 Dr. Rogers admits that she used to hesitate
recommending something as expensive as a home sauna: “I was looking for
treatments that were natural, but inexpensive and definitely not high
tech! But when you realize the lifelong incapacity and expense of
diseases such as chronic pain syndromes, heart disease, chemical
sensitivity, chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, migraines, Alzheimer’s,
cancer or any others caused by chemical toxicity, a sauna is cheap.
Let’s face it: high-tech pollution requires high-tech solutions.
1.) Just add up the time and money you wasted getting diagnosed. 2.) Or
add up the cost for a year of prescription medications and you will
have paid for it. But its advantages do not end there. 3.) Once you
have it, it’s yours to use forever, for the world will never run out of
ways to poison us. 4.) The whole family can use it. 5.) It is not only
capable of providing the primary ‘cure’ or solution for your current
medical problem, but can free you from symptom-producing medications.
Since new chemicals are continually bombarding us every day, it is a
tool to keep you ‘cleaned out’ for life. It is a win-win situation.
“I’m convinced that the far infrared sauna is something that
everyone should do to restore health, and then continue to do on a less
frequent basis to maintain the ‘cleaned-out’ state for the rest of
their lives. It’s therapeutic as well as prophylactic.”
If your livelihood depends on an occupation with
continual exposures, you still have a chance of being able to tolerate
it more safely, as long as you are reducing the chemicals faster than
you are tanking up on them . . .
I was convinced we had to have a Far Infrared Sauna (FIRS)
when I read, in Detoxify or Die, page 213: “FIRS Cures the
Most Mysterious Cases — The bottom line is that folks with the most
severe forms of heart disease and resistant to all medications,
tolerated the FIRS with no side effects. Most importantly, it improved
their heart health in this Mayo Clinic study within 3 short weeks.
Of course, it is recommended to continue longer, say a year of daily or
every other day saunas for an hour or less to more completely lower
stored chemicals that cause disease. Then it is necessary to do them at
least once a week for life, since the world will never run out of ways
to poison us.
“It should not surprise you by now that mysterious joint pain
in war veterans exposed to Agent Orange also disappeared, as did a host
of other pain syndromes. Schnare of the U. S. EPA (Environmental
Protection Agency) also showed that not only did sauna reduce body
levels of HCB (hexachlorobenzene) and PCBs (polychlorinated biphenyls)
in electrical workers, for example, but it did this even though the men
were continually exposed at work.
“This is important because it means that if your livelihood
depends on an occupation with continual exposures, you still have a
chance of being able to tolerate it more safely, as long as you are
reducing the chemicals faster than you are tanking up on them. And
let’s face it. Most occupations have their specific toxins. Also this
could allow tolerance of poorly tolerated implanted items that we would
like to keep, like root canals and artificial joints.
“Schnare also reviewed different types of workers, drug users,
victims of accidental ingestions, and those poisoned by a variety of
environmental chemicals; all recovered with sauna detoxification.
Meanwhile, scientists from the Tokyo Medical and Dental University and
others explained in further studies, once more how the FIR sauna is
superior to just plain old heat of regular saunas. There is no lack of
data on this subject that has remained a secret cure for
decades.”
History of Far Infrared Saunas
It is estimated that over one million Infrared Thermal systems
have been sold in the Orient for whole-body treatments. In addition,
lamps tuned to the 2 to 25 micron wave band, are used for localized
treatment and relief of pain.
In Europe and Australia, lamps tuned to the same 2 to 25
micron wave band are employed together with whole-body Thermal Systems
for the removal of toxins. These lamps are also used to promote the
natural healing of soft tissue injuries. Practitioners use them to
provide relief in chronic or intractable “permanent” cases and to
accelerate healing in newer injuries. German physicians have used
whole-body infrared therapy, with different technologies, for over
eighty years.
How Infrared Saunas Differ From Conventional Saunas
High Tech Health’s Thermal Life Far Infrared Saunas use Far
Infrared energy to penetrate the body’s tissues to depth of up to
1½". Tests have shown that the energy output is tuned so closely
to the body’s own radiant energy that our bodies absorb as much as 93%
of the infrared waves that reach our skin. By comparison, conventional
saunas must rely only on indirect means of heat: first, on convection
(air currents) and then, conduction (direct contact of hot air with the
skin) to produce its heating effects. The Thermal Life saunas operate
at temperatures of 110º to 130º F. versus 180º to
234º F. for hot-air saunas. Since conventional saunas require 30
to 90 minutes of warm-up before use, electricity costs are reported to
be a lot higher than those of Thermal Life saunas, which warm up in 5
to 10 minutes.
Removal of Toxins:
In one study performed by American researchers, the sweat of
people using conventional sauna was found to be 95 to 97% water while
the sweat of those using far infrared sauna was 80 to 85% water with
the non-water portion principally cholesterol, fat-soluble toxins,
toxic heavy metals, sulfuric acid, sodium, ammonia and uric acid. This
unusually high concentration of heavy metals and other fat-soluble
toxins is not found in the sweat from normal exercise.
What Is Infrared?
Infrared is a type of heat that is produced when our bodies
exert energy — we would not be able to survive without this type of
heat. The Infrared spectrum is divided into three different groups:
Near, Medium and Far.
High Tech Health’s Thermal Life Far Infrared Saunas produce
Far Infrared heat, creating a much more natural heat than conventional
saunas. Inside the Thermal Life sauna, infrared heaters use 10% of
their energy to warm the air; the remaining 90% is transformed into
heat, which then penetrates the body.
Medical research demonstrates that exposure to long wave Far
Infrared heat of 7.2 to 15 um can produce excellent therapeutic
effects, and is the safest way to heat the body. Hospitals, doctors,
therapists, health resorts, specialists, and rehabilitation centers all
use the instinctive effects of Far Infrared.
Benefits of Far Infrared Saunas
Medical research has shown a vast number of benefits
associated with the use of saunas such as improving circulation,
cardiovascular conditioning, removal of toxins, improved skin
conditions and caloric consumption.
Improved Circulation/Cardiovascular Conditioning:
As the body works to cool itself, there is a substantial
increase in heart rate, cardiac output, and metabolic rate, thus
improving circulation. Blood flow during whole-body hyperthermia is
reported to rise from a normal 5 to 7 quarts per minute to as much as
13 quarts per minute.
Injured muscles will repair faster as large amounts of oxygen
rich blood circulates through the body, improving the body’s immune
system. Drainage of toxic materials is accelerated as a result of the
increased blood circulation and perspiration. An oxygen rich blood
supply helps to restore the body’s natural balance.
“Many of us who run do so to place a demand on our
cardiovascular system, not to build big leg muscles. Regular use of a
sauna imparts a similar stress on the cardiovascular system, and its
regular use may be as effective a means of cardiovascular conditioning
and burning of calories, as regular exercise.”
—Journal of American Medical Association, August
1981
Improved Skin Condition/Caloric Consumption:
Improved Skin Conditioning: Increased blood circulation and
deep cleansing of impurities improves skin tone and elasticity.
Research reports improvements in acne, rashes, burns and skin lesions.
Users describe skin as “more youthful and radiant!”
“A moderately conditioned person can easily sweat off 500
grams of sweat in a sauna — the equivalent of running two to three
miles. While the weight of the water lost can be regained by
rehydration with water, the calories will not.”
—Journal of American Medical Association, August
1981
The Extraordinary Health Benefits of a Thermal Life
Far Infrared Therapy Sauna
Recommended by thousands of doctors nationwide, this is a
critical step in restoring good health to those who suffer from
allergies, acne, brain fog, fatigue, fibromyalgia, depression, mood
swings, frequent colds and flu and hundreds of other symptoms that
indicate heavy metal (including mercury) or chemical toxicity.
- Superior Detoxification:
Removes Heavy Metals (including mercury, lead, aluminum, beryllium),
Arsenic, Pesticides, Fungicides and other Fat-Stored Toxins
- Increased Cardiovascular Conditioning
- Stimulated Immune System
- Improved Circulation
- Pain Relief
- Weight Loss and Cellulite Reduction
- Beautiful Skin
- Stress Reduction
- Better Sex Life
How is the Thermal Life Hypoallergenic Poplar Sauna
Different from Other Far Infrared Saunas?
- Dual digital controls on inside and outside of unit allow
full control of sauna temperature and session duration. Temperature can
be set in increments of one degree. Session duration can be set in
increments of one minute. Controls also feature a timer allowing
delayed activation of heaters.
- Constructed entirely out of the finest hypoallergenic solid
poplar wood, with non-toxic water-based glues, using tongue and groove
joints, with lexan windows that do not out-gas.
- State-of-the-art far infrared heaters radiate rays in a
complete 360-degree radius with a reflector located behind every heater
to reflect and intensify the FIR rays into the sauna.
- Units come with the finest ventilation system. The built-in
fan (an exclusive feature from Thermal Life) is used to exhaust some
heat but more importantly, draw fresh air in from the outside. This is
an important feature because the oxygen content in the air in
competitor’s closed-in saunas diminishes very quickly. The saunas also
have a vent located in the roof panel, and the lexan, non-toxic window
can be opened.
- Speakers included with every unit for easy connection to
your existing stereo.
- Our patented zirconium ceramic infrared heaters use less
electricity than your household hairdryer and plug into your standard
110-volt outlet (4-person unit uses 220V).
- Comes ready to assemble and takes only 20 minutes to put
together. No tools required.
- 30-day unconditional money-back guarantee.
- One-year warranty on the entire unit, 5-year warranty on
the cabin, and a lifetime warranty on the heaters.
- More health practitioners recommend the Thermal Life far
infrared poplar sauna than any other sauna.
Far Infrared Sauna Testimonial
This is Bonnie Again: “Luxuriously spoiled” is how I’ve been
feeling since July 3, 2004 when I began taking far infrared saunas.
Living
a life of luxury, in my opinion, is eating the diet of my choice, going
about my normal activities — that do not include strenuous exercise —
taking saunas, and gradually returning to my normal weight.
My schedule with the far infrared sauna is mostly one hour
every day (although I miss a day occasionally). I look forward to my
daily sauna and enjoy it immensely.
Fifteen excess pounds have disappeared. Little skin tags have
disappeared. A scar I’ve had on my arm for 3 ½ years from a
fall, turned red, then white, then back to normal.
I think the reason I’m losing my excess weight is that the far infrared
sauna is helping my body release and sweat away stored beryllium.
When I visited Dr. Clark in 1996 she tested me for heavy
metals. Although she did not find the toxic metals most people have
stored in their bodies, such as mercury, nickel, etc., she did find
that my body was loaded with beryllium.
Dr. Clark stated that beryllium is extremely difficult to get
rid of. Beryllium dust enters the air from burning coal and oil. It’s
in the air we breathe, especially if we live in the city. Lung damage
has been observed in people exposed to high levels of beryllium in the
air but low-level exposure may be completely asymptomatic or begin with
coughing, chest pain, shortness of breath, weakness, and/or fatigue.
I was exposed to fumes from cars and trucks daily for 16 years
before Dr. Clark tested me with her Syncrometer, so her findings did
not surprise me. Although I’ve taken oral chelation capsules and used
chelating suppositories and sprays on and off since 1996, I doubt if
any of them significantly reduced the amount of beryllium in my body.
If I were tested today with the Syncrometer I believe I would
be beryllium-free.
Reader’s Comments
Many readers wrote of their experiences and their relatives’
experiences with saunas. The following are a few of their comments.
Narconon (which uses saunas to detoxify people), used to have
a two-week program.
Now, it’s a six-month program and costs anywhere from $1900 to
$2200.
Narconon does not use far infrared saunas. They use dry-heat
saunas at 180º F. (far infrared saunas are effective between
95º F and 130º F.).
When using a far infrared sauna taking niacin is optional, as
the far infrared rays alone will cause the cells of the body to release
toxins.
Narconon programs are reported by a few to be crowded and
under staffed.
Scientology is heavily promoted in the Narconon program.
Far infrared heat is available in lamps, heating pads and
mattresses. We own several of these and have used them often to quickly
recover from minor stiff necks, aches and pains, but they are not used
to detoxify the body.
Drinking small amounts of Water Oz minerals daily is a must if
you are using a sauna.
Using a sauna without taking minerals causes a person to feel
cranky and weak.
Issue #57 of my newsletter, The Road To Health, half of which
is about far infrared saunas and a report on Detoxify or Die, 2002, by
Sherry A. Rogers, M.D., caused a tremendous response from readers.
Several own a far infrared sauna and wrote to express their
thanks for being informed about the book, which is a “must read” for
anyone who owns or is interested in owning or using a far infrared
sauna.
On pages 191 to 281 Ms. Rogers tells how taking regular far
infrared saunas will safely depurate (get rid of) a lifetime’s
accumulation of poisons from your body. To do this she recommends the
Thermal Life Far Infrared Sauna by High Tech Health (800) 794-5355.
The folks at High Tech Health will send a free information
packet to those who ask for it.
To order Detoxify or Die and/or a Thermal Life Far Infrared
Sauna call (800) 794-5355 and to receive a discount on your
sauna, please mention my name, Bonnie O’Sullivan.
Thank you,
Bonnie
