Therapeutic Dosages
D-Phenylalanine is typically taken at a dose of 100 to 200 mg daily for the treatment of depression.
For the treatment of chronic pain, studies have used D-Phenylalanine in doses as high as 2,500 mg (2 1/2 Grams) daily.
As a dietary supplement, to boost your endorphin level, take one 500 mg. capsule three times daily on an empty stomach or as directed by a healthcare professional. Allow one week for full benefits.
Dental Pain
Two grams of D-Phenylalanine have been given 1 hour prior to dental extractions, increasing the pain threshold and for a prolonged period of time.
3,000 mg D-Phenylalanine Per Day Finally Relieves Jaw Pain
One dramatic pain-relief case was reported by a dentist. His patient had a large number of old dental fillings replaced within a short period of time. As a result, he experienced ongoing and severe jaw pain that no pharmaceutical painkiller could touch, and the dentist tried them all. In desperation, his patient tried D-Phenyalalnine, about 3,000 mg/day. He reported immediate improvement, and truly profound relief shortly thereafter.
D-Phenylalanine and Acupuncture
Pre-administration of D-Phenylalanine enhances the effects of acupuncture on back and other pain. Taking 2 to 4 grams of D-Phenylalanine one hour prior to acupuncture treatment may result in more pain relief and for longer periods of time.
Chronic Pain
D-Phenylalanine is very effective for chronic pain and can help an addicted person reduce their intake of narcotic drugs. Additionally, persons reporting pain relief will generally be able to gradually LOWER their dose of D-Phenylalanine as well, and will often be able to maintain a pain-free status with less D-Phenylalanine than before. It is a bit unusual for an analgesic substance to work BETTER over time and require LESS; the opposite is the rule. (Consider morphine, for instance.) D-Phenylalanine has a long duration of action yet the body does not seem to build up a tolerance to it.
D-Phenylalanine has been reported to reduce inflammation
Research has indicated that migraine, joint pains, neuralgia and even postoperative pain respond to D-Phenyalalnine, and it has been reported to reduce inflammation. D-Phenyalalnine does not deaden normal sensation even when taken for a lengthy period. Prescribed medication usually may still be taken with D-Phenyalalnine without interference. Consult the Physician's Desk Reference ("PDR", found at any doctor's office, pharmacy, or library) for information on any drug you may be taking or considering.
