D-Phenylalanine, USP

According to my research I've come to the conclusion that D-Phenylalanine is a safe alternative to aspirin, tylenol, ibuprofen and opiates for acute and/or chronic pain. D-Phenylalanine is non-addictive and will not upset the stomach. By Bonnie O'Sullivan, Editor, The Road To Health Newsletter

What is D-Phenylalanine?

D-Phenylalanine is a form of the essential amino acid, L-Phenylalanine, that, when taken as a supplement, protects the body's production of naturally occurring "painkillers" (endorphins), with no side-effects.

D-Phenylalanine is the dextrorotory form of the amino acid Phenylalanine. The L-Forms (Levorotory) of amino acids are ones that are bioavailable and are for protein synthesis and regulatory function. The L and D forms are like mirror images of one another, however D-Phenylalanine is not absorbed into the body, but acts as an inhibiting agent to the enzymes that are responsible for the breakdown of endorphins, which control pain perception.

D-Phenylalanine, USP, is a safe alternative to opiates for chronic pain management, and will not upset the stomach as many long-term, Non Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs), such as aspirin and ibuprofen do. It may also be used to increase the effects of drugs, such as opiates or aspirin, so that a lower dosage of a drug would be necessary to achieve relief. No adverse side effects have been noted with D-Phenylalanine.

The number-one most overused drugs today are NSAID’s, including both prescription and over-the-counter (OTC). We all tend to reach for the medicine chest when pain strikes . . . for pain ranging from arthritis to childbirth. But the truth is that NSAID’s often have serious side effects, and the side effects may not surface until the damage is irreversible. Liver and kidney damage, digestive tract bleeding, hypertension, and even death are the documented side effects of seemingly innocent remedies that we take without thinking.

Pharmaceutical painkillers may offer temporary relief, but in the long term they may mask or even accelerate an underlying disease condition. Research is mounting, for example, that NSAID’s accelerate the degeneration of arthritic joints. In contrast to artificial painkillers, some of which are not even found in nature, no such side effects have been documented for D-Phenylalanine.

Only recently has D-Phenylalanine become widely available in its pure form

D-Phenylalanine is a non-nutritive amino acid that has been used safely in combination with L-Phenylalanine under the name "DLPA" for many years, but only recently has D-Phenylalanine become widely available in its pure form. For this reason, D-Phenylalanine should not be confused with DLPA. D-Phenylalanine is able to effectively raise your body’s natural endorphin levels when needed, with little or none of the increase in blood pressure that is sometimes experienced with L-Phenylalanine and DLPA.
